Chapter 13 – King Lunalilo

For several weeks after Kamehameha V’s death, Hawai‘i had no king. Such a thing had never happened before. For the first time, the people themselves could say whom they wished to rule them. There were two who wished to be king, William Charles Lunalilo and David Kalākaua.
